このパンプアンドダンプは、会社名や証券コード（ティッカーシンボル）を名指しした偽情報を吹聴し、特定の株の購入するよう煽りまくった上で、人為的に株価を操作する 手口です。

パンプアンドダンプのメールが上手くいくと、対象企業の株価が一時的に急上昇するので、攻撃者はそのタイミングを見計らって事前に購入しておいた株を売り抜いて、ガッツリ利益を頂いちゃおう魂胆なのです。

2018年初めには、株式ではなく仮想通貨 Swisscoin（SIC、スイスコイン）の価格を釣り上げようと狙った英語のスパムメールまで確認されています。

パンプアンドダンプの迷惑メールは、セキュリティ会社の記事で指摘されてるように、Nerurs ウイルスに感染して攻撃者に遠隔操作されている Windows パソコン（ボットネット）から世界中に大量配信されてます。
